Biz Kids Dance Scholarship
Showbiz Kids and Dance Company is happy to announce we will award two students a dance scholarship for the 2017/2018 dance season. This scholarship will either reduce the price of a student’s 1st class or pay for the student’s 2nd class in its entirety. Applicants will be required to go through an audition process in order to be eligible for the scholarship. The audition process will include:
1 Hour Audition Class – Students will have 30 minutes to learn a 1 to 2 minute piece of choreography. Then the students will perform the choreography for the Judges for the last 30 minutes of the class. Students do not need to have any prior dance experience or technique for this audition class. The Judges will be looking for work ethics, a good attitude during the class, and performance quality.
Prepared Solo – Students will need to come to the audition with a choreographed solo. All choreography should be done by the STUDENT. Applicants who are 8 and under will need to have 30 seconds of choreography completed and applicants 9 and older will need to have 1 minute of choreography completed. Students will need to bring their own cut music on a CD to the audition. No music will be provided.
“Why I Love to Dance” Statement – Students will need to write a short statement about why they love to dance. Applicants 8 under need to have a statement that is no more than 100 words and applicants 9 and up need to have a minimum of 100 words for their statement. These statement should be honest, grammatically correct, and give the judges a feel for the student’s personality. Parents may help with the statement.
*Note: Student’s will need to sign up for a 5 minute time slot where they will need to introduce themselves, perform their solo, and answer 3 questions from the judges.
